At the Finish Line

I typed another 9 pages during lunch today, which means I only need to type another 5 to call this book a wrap!

I’m not sure if I’ll try to write a little of Phillip tonight after I’ve finished. I might just leave to run some errands I had planned. I would also love to get a head start on packing. Oh, and my stupid microwave broke, so I need to start researching prices for a new one. Bummer.

Hot Smex

I DID IT!

I was able to type up the last 2 pages in chapter 17 last night, but I also wrote/typed a great sex scene that I am infinitely more proud of than what I had originally written. It was emotional and sweet, but not too graphic. It just felt so much more like Rory and Sebastian than what was there before and I’m so glad I took the time to re-write it!

So now I’ve got 3 chapters left to type up in 3 days and I am bound and determined. Actually, it’s more like 4 or 5 since I wanted to start typing up Phillip as well, but this is going to be a big coup for me if I can get this book squared away before visiting A in Phoenix.

I just need to make it through another shitty day at work (I’m shooting to type up 7 pages during lunch). And then Jefferson Starbucks tonight, where I shouldn’t have any problem finishing up chapter 18 and starting on 19. I’m really glad I have something to look forward to at the end of the day.

UPDATE: I successfully typed up 7 pages during lunch (Huzzah!), which means I only need 3 more to finish up the chapter. Getting a few pages into chapter 19 should be no problem tonight! I’m getting so excited!

UPDATE 2: Look at me go! I typed up a whopping 13 pages at Jefferson Starbucks, effectively typing through chapter 19! So now I’ve only got the epilogue to go for this book. Hopefully that will afford me enough time to start typing up Phillip. I couldn’t be happier!

To and Fro, Stop and Go

Okay, so I got about 3/4 through chapter 16 last night at Starbucks, but what got me bogged down was that I decided I needed to completely re-write the sex scene. What I had on paper just seemed so out of character when I was re-reading it, especially compared to their past relations. So, I’m hoping I can finish typing that up tonight after therapy. I also want to type up the last 2 pages of chapter 17, after that.

Otherwise, I did a great job at lunch and got 9 pages typed up, so I’m getting very, very, very close to having this done. With my trip to Arizona looming, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Also, I miss Phillip and Dahlia and I told myself I wasn’t allowed to write them until I got this typed up.

Far-Fetched

I’m hoping to finish typing chapter 16 by the time I leave Jefferson Starbucks tonight. It’s a lofty goal, but I’m super behind and I need to get it done. Yikes! Wish me luck!

February Goals

Things are still going downhill at work, so I haven’t really been motivated to write. I didn’t complete 2 of my 3 goals for Tristi’s challenge in January. My adjusted goals for February are as follows:

  1. Finish typing the last Gray book before I visit A on Feb. 12
  2. Write 20,000 words in the 1st PK Mystery by the end of February
  3. Start typing up the 1st PK Mystery after I finish the last Gray book

I’m confident these goals aren’t too lofty. Although, I will admit that depending on how my work situation progresses, I may have to reassess them in the future. Only time will tell.

I typed through a particularly rough patch of the story yesterday during lunch and I wrote 2 pages last night at Jefferson Starbucks; in addition, I did some pretty in-depth outlining which will get me through Dahlia’s revelation about Phillip’s activities.

Therapy tonight, so I’m not sure if I’ll make it to Starbucks. But I should have no problem finishing chapter 15 during lunch today. I’m really proud of the solid progress I’ve been making by typing during lunch.

Changing Gears

I’ve barely gotten any writing done in the last few days. A lot has been going on. I’m about 75% sure I’m going to lose my job, so I’ve begun looking for a new position.

However, on the plus side, I’ve started posting the remainder of the last book in the Gray series: The Difference Between Black and White on FictionPress, which I’m hoping will motivate me to finish typing up the last couple chapters and write more of Phillip.

I’m resolved to type at least 6 pages during my lunch break and make it to Jefferson Starbucks tonight to get in some quality time with Phillip and Dahlia.

Cheers!

UPDATE: So I only got 4 pages in during lunch, but considering I kept getting interrupted and I left some of my notes at home, I’m going to call it a win. I think it’s still possible for me to finish typing up the book by the 31st!

Falling On Hard Times

It has been a rough couple of days for me. In addition to the boy leaving last week, I’ve been having problems with a few of my friends and yesterday there was a pretty big shake up at work. So needless to say I’ve really been retreating into my writing as it’s the best defense I have against stress.

I wrote 3 pages of Phillip last night at Jefferson Starbucks in the hour I had before they closed after my therapy session, which was actually quite an accomplishment for me. Due to the issues at work I haven’t gotten a chance to type during lunch for the last two days, but I don’t think I’ll have a problem getting at least 10 pages on the computer before the end of the week.

All I can say is, thank goodness for Phillip Kelley.
